Ozanam Family Shelter hosts Fishing for Families fundraiser

Registration is now open for the Fishing for Families contest to benefit Ozanam Family Shelter.  The “catch-photo-release” contest is open to anglers of all ages and fish of all species.

The online contest will be held from September 1-30, 2021, and participation is easy! Visit ozanamfamilyshelter.org/fish to register.  Participants may fish at any location they choose during the contest time period. Photos of your catches can be emailed along with the confirmation number you receive to fish@ozanamfamilyshelter.org for a chance to win some great prizes generously funded by contest sponsors.

Entry fees are $10 for youth (16 and under) and $20 for adults (17 and over). All entry fees are tax-deductible donations that go directly to benefit Ozanam.  Contest categories include:  Heaviest fish, longest fish and ugliest fish. See the registration page for complete contest rules.

“Ozanam is excited to host this inaugural family fundraising event,” explained JoAnna Beck, Ozanam Executive Director.  “Fishing is a fun outdoor activity that families can do together, and by registering for the contest, you’re supporting Ozanam Family Shelter which is committed to helping families in need in our community.”

September 25th is the next “Free Fishing Day” where Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish the state’s public waters. Take advantage of this opportunity to fish for a great cause and a chance to win a prize.

For more information about the contest, call or text the Fishing for Families hotline at 812-518-5865 or Ozanam at 812-422-2214.
