A new student-led event at Ivy Tech Evansville will bring together local organizations, disability service providers and community resources for the first-ever Ability Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
The event, hosted by the EmpowerAbility Club at Ivy Tech Evansville in partnership with organizations throughout the community, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ivy Tech Evansville, 3501 N. First Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
The Ability Expo is designed to connect individuals with disabilities, their families, caregivers and community members with organizations that provide disability services, assistive technology, educational resources and other forms of support.
“This is an opportunity for our students to bring the community together and highlight the resources that are available right here in the Evansville area,” said Eddie Burkel, president of the Ivy Tech Evansville Student Government Association.
The expo is being organized with the involvement of Ivy Tech students, giving students an opportunity to take a leadership role in creating an event that addresses an important community need.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from a variety of local organizations and learn more about available services and programs.
