Anonymous donor doubling donations as annual fundraising campaign enters its final days
The Salvation Army of Evansville is getting ready for the final week of its annual Red Kettle Campaign, which provides much of the funding needed for vital services and programs offered by the organization. December 19-23 all donations made to Red Kettles across Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Posey counties will be doubled up to $20,000 thanks to a matching gift from a local supporter.
"Every dollar dropped into a kettle becomes two—doubled by a generous match and multiplied in impact by a mission that puts hope, dignity, and community first," said Captain Brandon Lewis with The Salvation Army. "When you give, you’re not just filling a kettle; you’re fueling a movement. Join us. Stand with us. Let’s make twice the difference, together."
The Salvation Army has seen an increase in need in the community over the past year as families struggle to put food on the table and heat their homes. Donations made to Red Kettles are needed now more than ever to counter rising costs for both those who need help and those who provide it. Across Indiana, The Salvation Army has seen a 28% rise in the cost of food and supplies for feeding programs while also seeing a 20-25% jump in the number of first-time participants in food programs.
Volunteer bell ringers are needed to sign up for 2-hour shifts to ensure that every Red Kettle can be out each day of the match. Individuals, groups, and families are encouraged to visit RegisterToRing.com to sign up for the date, time, and location of their choosing. Red Kettles are being placed at a number of locations this year, including Walmart, Schnuck's, Sam's Club, Wesselman's, Hobby Lobby, IGA, Eastland Mall, JCPenney, Dillard's, Price Less Foods, and Boonville City Hall.
Donations can also be made online to help The Salvation Army reach its holiday fundraising goal before the end of the year. Visit salarmy.us/evansvillevrk2025 to give to the 2025 Virtual Red Kettle.
