About Us

WPSR is a non-commercial, educational radio station whose license is held by the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and delivers programs and music produced by students of the EVSC as well as surrounding high schools in the area. 90.7 is Evansville's Real Variety including updates from NBC News Radio, local weather from Eyewitness News, in addition to student programs and the Totally 80's Weekend. 

This station is part of the curriculum of the Media Communication and Broadcasting program at the Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center. WPSR is a real-life tool for students to learn as much as possible about radio, television, and other forms of media. 

Media Communications and Broadcasting

WE ARE SHAPING THE NEXT GENERATION OF STORYTELLERS BY EMPOWERING THEIR VOICES THROUGH BROADCASTING, FILM AND MULTIMEDIA EDUCATION.


This program is for a student interested in a career and further schooling in Business, Broadcasting (radio, TV, cable), Journalism (news and sports), Public Relations, Advertising/Marketing, Communications/Media, Management, Audio Production, and Engineering, or just wanting to better their speaking and writing skills and learn how to function in a “Real Life” business environment.

M-COM will provide instruction to develop and enhance competencies in various communication, marketing, media, production, and technical functions and tasks performed by employees, including management personnel, in Radio/TV Broadcasting and Telecommunications occupations. This course is an intensive study of broadcasting theory, history, law and regulations, programming, promotion, advertising, marketing, journalistic writing (News and Sports), and lab (on-air and production), and involves on-air broadcast training on the EVSC radio station, 90.7 WPSR.

Media Communications and Broadcasting is a two-year class.

Media Communications and Broadcasting-1 is an Academic and Practicum Class.

Media Communications and Broadcasting-2 is a Practicum Class.


The course includes classroom/academic study, lectures, discussions, presentations, written assignments, and exams. The course will also incorporate studio/production and on-air training. Students will submit a demo and digital portfolio of their production work and an air-check of their talent.


The class provides special training in digital audio production, “on-air” techniques (speaking and technical), interviewing skills, creative and journalistic writing skills, understanding and application of broadcast theory and law, promotion, advertising, and marketing skills. Students may qualify for internships and/or employment at local broadcast facilities. 

Students are encouraged to further their education at a two or four-year college or university.
