24th annual S.M.I.L.E. Mile

    S.M.I.L.E. Mile brings the tri-state community together to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome. It also offers businesses, schools, and other organizations an opportunity to get involved.

    Today S.M.I.L.E. on Down Syndrome officially announced their 24th annual S.M.I.L.E. Mile, opening registration up to the public and encouraging donations for this milestone fundraiser.

    The S.M.I.L.E. Mile will be Rockin’ Extra on Saturday, October 4th from 9 a.m. until noon. “The SMILE Mile is like our Christmas morning,” said a parent of a child with Down syndrome who has been attending the SMILE Mile walks for the past twenty-three years. Positive Community Impact Many have already signed up to walk, cheer, perform, or volunteer at S.M.I.L.E. Mile. Central High School Cheer Team, of Evansville, recently committed once again to cheer our teams on as they complete their one-mile walk. This year they’re bringing three coaches and 28 cheerleaders and will also be offering face painting to attendees. TS.M.I.L.E. Mile will enable Central High School Cheer Team and our entire tri-state community to support amazing individuals with Down syndrome. “We’re so excited,” said Whitney Williams, Cheerleading Coach, Central High School Cheer Team. “We even made matching SMILE Mile t-shirts for us to wear this year!” 

    S.M.I.L.E. Mile brings the tri-state community together to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome. It also offers businesses, schools, and other organizations an opportunity to get involved.
