From Monday, May 4th, through Friday, May 8th, Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated throughout their schools. This is a way for teachers to be recognized for their dedication and hard work by receiving some attention. Students may not realize this, but our teachers are always our biggest supporters and want us to be our best selves. That's maybe why they push us so hard. So next time your teacher is giving you a hard time, try to remember that they know that you have the capability!
I have a couple of teachers who are pretty strict with me because they know the sky is the limit for me. You may know her, Jo Beth Bootz. (The person who keeps everything under control at our station and makes sure everyone stays in line!) But she is one of the hardest-working, honest, and caring women I have met. If I ever make a mistake, I don’t want to hear, “That was great!” I want to know what I can do better next time so I can fix it. I need that feedback. That's what Mrs. Bootz does. She knows what you can do and pushes you to improve. Yes, if I make a mistake, I get upset and embarrassed, but she is always there to reassure me. I believe that every student should have a teacher who believes in them.
Another teacher who I believe deserves this shoutout is my science teacher, Ms.Toth. I’m not going to lie, the beginning of Junior year was pretty harsh. Her class was one of my least favorite, and I would dread walking into it. It wasn't until the beginning of January 2026 that I started to get to know Ms. Toth and enjoyed talking to her more and more every day. If you just have that bond with a teacher, it's SO much easier to not be afraid to walk into a classroom. It's so comforting knowing that if you have a problem, you can go to that person. Some restaurants and fast food chains also offer discounts during Teacher Appreciation Week. McDonald's, Chick-fil-a, Chipotle, Cicic’s Pizza, and so much more! A couple of ways to show appreciation to your teachers are by buying them gift cards, donating items to their classroom, or even just making a small gesture.
A simple 'thank you' or a hug would show how appreciative you are of some of the biggest influences in your life. (Other than your parents!)
