Everyone has their “Mount Rushmore” of bands when it comes to bands. You know the one they defend with their life and would die on a hill if you ever got into an argument with that band. Well here’s my Mount Rushmore of bands. The ones I’d never skip, the ones I would always fight for and the reasons they’ve made such an impact on my life.
1. First up the George Washington of bands on my Mount Rushmore, This band is that one group that is just an obvious and strong first pick. The band that started it all and started my foundation into the metal scene. Metallica. Now, with Metallica as far as I remember they were one of if not the very first metal band I listened to. With classics such as “Enter Sandman”, “Master of Puppets”, and plenty more, how can you not fall in love with the sound that fueled many generations of metal fans.
2. Next up is the Thomas Jefferson of this Mount Rushmore. This band revolutionized and changed the way I look and listen to music. Fox Lake. This band completely got me into the hardcore scene that I absolutely adore today. Fox Lake is a smaller band out of Denver, Colorado that blends the sound of Hip-Hop and Metal. From the first day I heard any of their music I’ve always adored them and have craved more.
3. Moving onto the Roosevelt of this Mount Rushmore. This band has set the standard for getting me through some very tough times. Through all those rage moments, sad times, and breakups, this band has always had the perfect soundtrack to whatever emotion I am going through. Slipknot. Slipknot has provided me with enough rage filled tracks to where whenever I want to feel out my feelings of rage I can. Not only that though. They have such a diverse discography that you can find everywhere from rage filled tracks all the way to obsessive love songs. They literally have anything a metal fan could ever wish for.
4. Finally, the one and only Abraham Licoln of this list. This band is the honest pick and honestly one of if not my favorite band of all time. Avenged Sevenfold. This band has made my life a whole lot brighter. From seeing them in concert to just bumping them full blast, they have made these longer road trips worth the drive. With tracks such as “A Little Piece of Heaven”, “The Stage”, “We Love You”, “Nobody”, and plenty more, the band shows off an absolute masterclass of songwriting. Not to mention their guitarist Synester Gates. He is an absolute unit of a guitarist including his solos, rhythm playing, and lead playing. He absolutely rips on everything. In their earlier stuff their drummer “The Rev” completely defined the sound of a generation.
Looking back, these bands have ran the soundtrack of my life. Even when finding new music, these core four always stick out. No matter the weather, emotions, etc. These bands are always in rotation.
