Hello there! I’m Grant and I’m completely obsessed with movies! I’m really into anything film-related, such as movies, TV shows, documentaries, etc. Even though I could write book after book on this subject, I’d like to focus on one specific topic for this blog. I want to talk about some of, what I think, are the best movies to watch during the summer months.
The first movie I can think of off the top of my head that I would totally suggest to watch during the summer would be The Sandlot. The Sandlot is one of my favorite childhood movies to watch and is a really entertaining movie for the whole family. The movie is all about a bunch of boys enjoying their summer playing baseball everyday. That is until one day a very specially signed baseball is hit over a fence into the clutches of the most ruthless dog in the neighborhood when they find themselves in the biggest pickle of their lives when they have to try and get it back. This is definitely one of my highest suggestions for this summer if you're looking for something to watch.
The next movie I’d suggest would be the movie Dazed and Confused. This movie is an amazing depiction of the start of a high schooler’s summer; however, it is also not as family-friendly. The Sandlot is rated PG; whereas, Dazed and Confused has a bit worse of a rating with it being rated R. I would still highly recommend this movie for anybody looking for a good time this summer. This movie brings many laughs, fights, as well as a most triumphant soundtrack that you won’t be able to stop listening to as you enjoy your own adventure-filled summer.
The third movie I’d like to address is another great hit, Stand by Me. This movie is one of many classics from the wide array of excellent 80s movies. Stand by Me is a story of four boys who take a trip together on foot to find the body of a missing boy. Through the journey they face many challenges that are either physical or mental, but no matter what happens, the group continues to trek forward. No movie brings people closer than watching this suspenseful story unfold under a starry summer night.
Another famously classic movie that always brings you back to the feeling of the summer is Jaws. The movie Jaws is one of Steven Spielburg’s greatest accomplishments with awards for both best film editing and best music. Jaws takes one of the summer’s most popular activities, swimming, and brings a whole new fear to it. Even though this movie could be scary, it has a great balance of comedy and thriller that makes it the perfect summer movie. However, after watching this masterpiece you might fear getting back in the water again.
The last movie I want to mention is a newer movie that I have found to be a great asset to your summer movie watchlist. The movie Top Gun: Maverick is a phenomenal movie, and also what I think to be one of the best sequels films of all time. Top Gun: Maverick surpassed the first movie in my opinion and is the perfect blend of suspense, action, comedy, and nostalgia. Just the tone of the movie makes you feel like the summer sun is beating down on you throughout the film. This movie will definitely make you feel the need for speed as you enjoy every twist and turn the movie can throw at you.
These summer movie picks are just some of my many suggestions for movies. Trust me, I could go on and on for hours about this topic, but I’ll stop my rambling for now. If you want more recommendations on some of the best films for your watchlist, wait because a second post could come soon. I’m Grant signing off, but don’t worry, I’ll be back!
