Character Overview - Sookie Stackhouse

This blog post does contain spoilers, so readers beware!

Sookie Stackhouse is a fictional character from the hit television series “Trueblood”. In the Show, Sookie is introduced as a waitress at Merlotte's diner, located deep in the southern Louisiana town Bon temps. Although we learn quickly, Sook has struggled with the gift to read people's minds uncontrollably, for a while.

As soon as we are introduced to the first episode, we meet Sookie's love interest William Compton. Who she immediately is fascinated by. Bill (William) is a vampire which in Sookie's small, closemined town isn't taken kindly at first. This causes quite a bit of tension between Sookie and her Coworkers. Sookie, despite this, goes in a back and forth pursuit of William. Sookie's attraction and fascination with vampires is assumed by most fans, including myself, is the fact that she can't hear their thoughts.

Sookie has other love interests in the show, such as Eric Northman. Her growth throughout the show is launched by these relationships. As Sookie learns about love, supernatural, and how to not feel as isolated in a supernatural world. Sookie's Character goes through a variety of obstacles through the show, some physical and some mental. Sookie's character through the process is shown to change from just a regular waitress, to a girl who is far from ordinary and one who holds power.

Specific events happen that teach Sookie certain lessons. Sookie learns that through her Bestfriends Tara's death she cannot be so selfish. She also learns from her grandmothers, death does not take away people, and that they're always with us. Sookie’s growth as a character couldn't have happened without these events.

Sookie Stackhouse is forever a fan favorite of TrueBlood fans everywhere. Although she has her ditzy moments, her entanglements, differences, and adventures are what most fans remember about Trueblood. While she explores a prejudiced world but gives viewers an outside perspective amongst our world.
