Salvation Army Red Kettle donations to matched Thursday through Saturday

Match will take place at all Vanderburg and Warrick County Red Kettles December 7-9

Holiday shoppers will have extra incentive to put a little cash in Salvation Army Red Kettles later this week thanks to two anonymous gifts from local supporter looking to make a bigger impact this Christmas. The gifts have been offered as a challenge to the community to donate $20,000 to The Salvation Army over the course of just three days.

Evansville bell ringers 1.jpg"Thanks to the support of two longtime local donors, gifts to The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettles will be matched up to $20,000 on December 7, 8, and 9," said Captain Brandon Lewis of The Salvation Army of Evansville. "That means a $1 becomes $2, $5 becomes $10, so the impact of your gifts are doubled! More families will learn new life skills to break the cycle of poverty, the hungry will be fed, more kids will be tutored in after-school programs, and more people will experience God’s love. We’re so grateful for these committed friends who believe in The Salvation Army’s mission to share the Gospel of Jesus and serve our community."

The Salvation Army of Evansville is on the front line every day meeting the needs of the community, serving around 170 individuals each weekday through its hot lunch program and offering vital ministries to struggling households. As inflation continues to create new challenges to local families, The Salvation Army looks to the generosity of holiday shoppers to help them meet this increased need. Donors can give knowing that each donation to a Red Kettle stays in Vanderburg and Warrick counties and will be used to continue local programs and services through 2024.

Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this weekend will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, Schnucks, IGA, Hobby Lobby, Walgreens, Eastland Mall, and JCPenney. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this holiday season is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.

Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given. Visit SAEvansville.org to learn more about how you can help The Salvation Army ensure that they can Love Beyond Christmas and help those in need in 2024.
