Pairings Revealed for Indiana Girls Basketball State Tournament

Sectional games are scheduled to begin Tuesday, Feb. 2, and run through Saturday, Feb. 6, with the regional round slated for Feb. 13 and semi-states on Feb. 20.

The opening week’s pairings were announced this evening for the 46th Annual IHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament presented by the Indiana Fever and Indiana Pacers. Sectional games are scheduled to begin Tuesday, Feb. 2, and run through Saturday, Feb. 6, with the regional round slated for Feb. 13 and semi-states on Feb. 20.

The four state championship games that make up the state finals will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 27. Top-ranked North Central of Indianapolis will host Indianapolis Crispus Attucks in the opening game of Sectional 10. The Panthers are the top-ranked team in both the 4A poll of the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association (ICGSA) and the single class poll from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA). In Class 3A, the No. 1-ranked Silver Creek Dragons drew Charlestown for its first-round game in Sectional 30 played at Madison. The Class 2A poll shows the defending state champion Linton-Stockton Miners leading the field and scheduled to face Mitchell in the opener of the seven-team Sectional 47 at North Knox. And in Class A, the Trinity Lutheran Cougars top the latest poll and are scheduled to meet Shawe Memorial in a Sectional 62 opening-round game at Edinburgh. The Lawrence North Wildcats, the defending state champions in Class 4A and ranked No. 10 in this week’s ICGSA poll, drew a bye and will face the Indianapolis Cathedral-Warren Central winner in the Sectional 10 semifinals. Last year’s Class 3A state champion, the NorthWood Panthers will face home-standing-Wawasee in Sectional 20. Last year’s Class A state champion, the Loogootee Lions, ranked No. 5 this week, will host Shoals in a Sectional 63 first-round game.
