Gallery Renovation Planned for Evansville Museum

New renovations are coming to the Evansville Museum this month!

The Board of Trustees of the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science has approved a plan to renovate a portion of the Museum’s art galleries. Made possible with funding by an anonymous donor, the renovations will begin the final week of May and take approximately 12 weeks to complete. To prepare for the construction work, the current exhibition “A Celebration of Women” has temporarily closed to the public and will be reinstalled in September, 2021. Access to the temporary exhibition “Expert Tattooing in the Midwest” will not be affected.

Renovations will be completed by CORE Contractors and MAC Industrial Coatings. Executive Director Mary Bower states, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to improve the functionality of the gallery space with new flooring and updated wall treatment. The Museum continues to plan for improvements in our facility in order to present our exhibitions and programs in a beautiful and accessible environment.”

Board of Trustees President Stephanie M. Engelbrecht thanked the anonymous couple for their commitment to the Museum adding, “We are grateful for the many individuals, businesses and organizations who have continued to support the cultural institutions of our community during these challenging times. We have exciting changes coming to the Evansville Museum in the coming months and look forward to welcoming the community back to our renovated galleries.”
