Coat-A-Kid Launches 40th Year, Helping Evansville Children Stay Warm

Don’s Cleaners’ 2026 Coat-A-Kid campaign began October 6, launching the program’s 40th year of helping local children stay warm through winter. At an Oct. 6 kickoff at Potter’s Wheel, children in its after-school program received coats.

A warm coat can make cold mornings on the way to school more comfortable for a child. As winter approaches, Coat-A-Kid is asking the community to help make coats available for local children by donating new or gently used coats through December 31.

Residents can bring donations to any of Don’s Dry Cleaning and Laundry locations. Don’s cleans every donated coat at no charge before coats are distributed to children through the program’s community partners: The Salvation Army Evansville and the Evansville Christian Life Center.

Over four decades, Coat-A-Kid has distributed more than 120,000 coats throughout the community. Donation location details and more information are available at donscleaners.com.
