Be a Holiday Hero with the Red Cross at the "Henderson Holiday Hero" Blood Drive

The American Red Cross of Indiana Region serves 6.9 million people in 104 counties in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio through its six chapters: Central, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest, and Greater Indianapolis (Regional Headquarters).

With the holiday season quickly approaching and the weather getting colder, the American Red Cross tends to see a decrease in blood donations around this time of year. The need for blood, however, does not decrease. About 62% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood, yet only about 3% donates. Every donation can make an immense impact on the life of someone who needs it. As we enter a time of celebration and being grateful for what we have, roll up your sleeve to help patients in need.

    How to donate blood

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
