This week’s Pet of the Week is Hector, a 2-year-old Boxer mix who is ready to leave shelter life behind and find the loving forever home he deserves.
Hector came to the Warrick Humane Society from Evansville Animal Care & Control and has now spent 85 days waiting for his family. Shelter life has started to take a toll on this sweet boy, and lately, he has seemed a little defeated. We would love nothing more than to see Hector get the fresh start he deserves and discover how wonderful life can be with a family of his own.
Hector is a sweet, affectionate, and curious boy who loves people and absolutely loves getting pets. He may take a little time to warm up to someone new, but once he feels comfortable, his loving personality really shines. He enjoys being around his people, playing and exploring, and has a generally calm demeanor.
He is a good leash walker and has also been cat tested, doing very well in our cat room. Cats could potentially be a good match for Hector!
With other dogs, Hector can be a little more selective. He is interested in other dogs and enjoys playing, but he isn't necessarily the right match for every canine companion. If you have another dog at home, we recommend a meet and greet to make sure everyone is comfortable and that it's a good fit.
After 85 days of waiting, Hector deserves a family who will give him the time and patience to decompress, settle in, and finally feel like he belongs. He has so much love to give, and we know his perfect family is out there.
Hector is neutered and up to date on vaccines, deworming and preventative care, so he is ready to go home!
If you're interested in giving Hector the fresh start he's been waiting for, please fill out an adoption application at:
Warrick Humane Society Adoption Application
Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.
You are also welcome to come meet Hector in person. The Warrick Humane Society is open Wednesday and Thursday from 12–7 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 12–4 p.m.
Hector has been waiting long enough. Could you be the family he's been waiting for?

The Warrick Humane Society is dedicated to providing shelter, care and second chances to homeless animals in our community. Through adoption, foster care, community outreach and education, the organization works to connect animals with loving families and give them the opportunity for the happy, healthy lives they deserve. Every adoption creates space and hope for another animal in need — and for dogs like Hector, finding a forever home can truly change everything.
